Effortless Address Update Checklist for the Residents in Singapore
Singapore is a dynamic city-state where many foreign workers live and work. According to MOM data, there are roughly 1.5 million foreign workers in Singapore.
The vast majority of these foreigners do not own property in Singapore. They rent a unit, live there for a while (most likely 1-2 years), and then move on, which is pretty usual in Singapore. Hence, residents, particularly foreigners, frequently change their residential addresses.
Some systems allow updating the residential address before relocating to a new home and can set an effective date as a future date. If the system allows it, I recommend updating one week before moving to the new location and adding the effective date as the moving date.
After living 50 months in an HDB unit in Woodlands, I recently moved to a new place. I faced a challenge finding a list of where to update the new address. Hence, I decided to make a checklist for this. In this article, I will share a checklist that can be used to update the residential address when moving to a new place. I hope that at least half of the following list applies to general expats in Singapore. Please leave a comment if I missed something. It may be helpful for the readers.
I assume you have transferred the internet connection to the new place or applied an internet connection to the new place. Also, I assume you have applied for PUB for the new place. So, address changes do not apply to these two.
If you live in Singapore with your partner 🥰, remind your partner to do the same.
