You can apply for a single or multiple-entry visa online.
The single entry visa fee is approximately 33 SGD (USD 25).
In most cases, the processing time for your visa application is three days.
The Vietnamese Immigration Department decides visa validity, but a maximum of up to 90 days.
Travelling throughout Southeast Asian countries on a cheap is one of the best parts of living in Singapore. Many flights connect Singapore to major Vietnamese cities such as Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
Imagine you are a history lover, food explorer, and travel enthusiast planning a Vietnam trip soon. If so, you can use the information in this article to obtain a Vietnamese tourist visa from any nation, even Singapore, where you currently hold a work pass.
CHECK IF YOU NEED A VISA
If you are a citizen of one of the countries listed in the link provided, you do not need to obtain a visa before visiting Vietnam. This guide is specifically for those requiring a visit visa to Vietnam (countries not listed in the above link).
Before you begin the online application process, gather the following required documents.
Passport
Your passport must be valid for over six months from the date of your intended visit to Vietnam.
Scan the bio page of your passport and save it in .jpeg or .jpg format, ensuring the file size is less than 1MB
If you have a PDF version of your passport, take a clear screenshot of the bio page and save it in the required format.
Ensure all details are legible and the image is high quality.
Photo
Your photo should be 40 mm wide by 60 mm high, with no border, and taken within the last six months.
Save the photo in .jpeg or .jpg format, ensuring the file size is less than 1 MB.
Make sure the image is clear and of high quality.
Selfie photos are not accepted.
Address in Vietnam
Be ready with the full address of the hotel you intend to stay in Vietnam.
If you are copying the address from booking.com (or any other hotel booking sites), double-check the address in Google as well. Sometimes, the hotel address on booking.com is only part of the full address.
There is no place to attach the hotel booking in the e-visa application.
You do not need your flight ticket ready when applying for a Vietnam visa.
Step 01
Navigate to the official portal of the Vietnamese Immigration Department’s e-visa.
Click on the “personally apply for E-visa” link. Then, read the page, confirm that you have read it, and click “Next.”
Step 03
Upload your photo and the passport’s bio page from your local machine.
Then fill in your personal details.
For the ID Card number, you can enter your FIN number if you are in Singapore. Otherwise, add your local ID number. But it’s not a mandatory field.
Step 04
Enter your passport details.
Ensure to provide all accurate information.
In this section, select whether you need a single or multiple-entry visa. Also, select the from and to date you request a visa, including your travel date.
FYI, even though you can select a date here, visa validity will be decided by the reviewing officer.
Step 05
Provide your permanent and contact address (use your Singapore address), an emergency contact, and your occupation and company details (address and telephone number).
Step 06
Provide information about the trip, including the purpose, the port you plan to use to enter Vietnam, and the full address in Vietnam, including the hotel’s name.
You can provide your Singapore or your current mobile number with the country code as the phone number.
You can keep the “Agency/Organization/Individual” part blank if it does not apply to you.
Step 07
Provide trip expenses (the amount you plan to spend) and insurance details (travel insurance is not mandatory but recommended). Then, review the application form.
Step 08
Carefully review all the details which you have entered.
Please do change if anything is entered incorrectly.
If all is good, click the “Payment” button at the bottom of the review page.
Step 09
Once you click on “Payment”, you can see the visa fee in VND. Also, you will see visa validity if your visa application is approved.
Step 10
Select payment type. Visa, Master or AMEX are common in Singapore.
Tip for Payment:
I use Wise for all payments. Also, via Wise, you can pay using any local currency. In this case, it’s in VND.
You need to top-up your Wise wallet and convert some SGD to VND via Wise. Then, you will see your VND wallet in Wise.
Here, you will get a much more attractive conversion rate. Also you can use your Wise card in Vietnam as well. So once you pay using Wise, money will be deducted from your VND wallet.
If you are not using Wise, here is my referral link. You can try Wise. It’s a fantastic and convenient way to spend money in any country.
Enter Wise card details or any other card details that you want to use to pay for your visa.
Then click on “Continue.” Then please read and agree to the terms and conditions.
Step 12
Pay for the visa and complete 2FA (if any).
You will see a successful message if the Payment is successful.
